Comedy Interview: Mark Normand @ Zanie’s Chicago

Share

Mark Normand came to New York City nine years ago with no money, no prospects and an undeniable urge to be a comedian. Thankfully, it worked out, because male prostitution rarely pays the bills.

Besides avoiding becoming a “Midnight Cowboy,” Normand has risen up the ranks in comedy to gain the respect of peers and was even taken under Amy Schumer‘s wing (Schumer produced Normand’s Comedy Central hour, Don’t Be Yourself).

Normand is in Chicago for seven shows at Zanie’s in Old Town (remaing shows are today, October 21st at 7:00, 9:00 and 11:15 pm, as well as tomorrow, Sunday, October 22nd at 8:30 pm). Yesterday, he and I spoke for a little over an hour about all things comedy, anxiety, home invasions and why Jerry Seinfeld is, in his terms, “cunty.” Check out the SoundCloud embed below and go check out one of comedy’s fastest rising stars at Zanie’s this weekend.
