image11New year, new menu at Old Town Social (455 West North Avenue  Chicago, IL 60610 – 312-266-2277).  Executive Chef Jared Van Camp has released (like Liam Neeson before him with the Kraken) a new, updated menu that highlights familiar classic, as well as a major amount of new dishes that elevates bar food, including vegetarian and gluten free dishes (and from the new “Sausage King of Chicago” no less).

While we wait for Van Camp and company’s fried chicken sandwich shop Leghorn to open, and we already love Nellcôte, it’s important to take another look at Old Town Social.  And now that there’s this new menu, there is no better time than now I say.

On the updated menu at Old Town Social are appetizers of smoked trout brandade, shishito peppers stuffed with chicken chorizo (holy crap I love that idea, but then I’m a chorizo nut); new salads such as Raw Lacinato Kale with avocado, blood orange, pecorino, chilis, as well as a shaved butternut squash salad with raw local squash, gouda cheese, pickled persimmons and pomegranate molasses; there are expanded sandwich, taco and burger offerings as well, with a pork belly bahn mi, chicken chorizo tacos with housemade sausage, roasted poblanos, queso fresco, and a spicy lamb burger with chile paste, goat’s feta cheese and pltYou can check out the menu in full below.  Also, check out this interview we with with Van Camp in 2012.
