NYE in Chicago: Acadia, Sprout, Slurping Turtle, Big Jones & Tesori

Acadia Ryan McCaskey‘s restaurant opened up just under a year ago, managing to make this year the restaurant’s second NYE celebration and they’re doing it up in style.  The restaurant will be transformed for the evening, inspired by the play A Midsummer’s Night Dream, costumed performers and a special menu will be on display for Acadia‘s A Midwinter’s Night Dream.  The night will feature the aforementioned costumed performers and actors mingling with diners and breaking into performance throughout the evening.  At midnight, a special celebration is teased.  Last year, it was a marching band – what will they do to top that?  Acadia‘s NYE dinner will feature two seatings (one at 6 PM and one at 9 PM, with the lounge open from 5 PM until 2 AM – serving until midnight) and will feature a six course meal for $175 with inclusive wine pairings for the 9 PM seating and $150 for the 6 PM seating (prices are exclusive of tax and tip).  Vegetarians have a menu option for $150 for the late seating and $125 for the earlier seating, but those requesting must do so 48 hours in advance.  To reserve your spot, call the restaurant at (312)360-9500 and visit Acadia‘s website for more information.  The menu for Acadia‘s A Midwinter’s Night Dream is below.

Sprout – Keeping up with the regal theme, Sprout will offer a five course dinner for $85 per guest featuring Lobster Bisque, Gnocchi with black truffle, Quail with Foie Gras, Venison and five flavors of Croquembouche (a vegetarian dinner will be available as well).  See the full menu here.  Unique wine pairings and cocktails along with the restaurant’s full beer and wine list will be available for an additional cost.  Seating is available from 5:30 PM until 9:30 PM.  Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at (773)348-0706.

Slurping Turtle – Takashi Yagihashi‘s noodles and more restaurant will host a big, fun evening on NYE.  Guests can choose between three different tasting menus (Godzilla $45 – five courses, Ultraman $60 – five courses, and Turtle $80 – nine courses) to enjoy while watching the classic Japanese action films Godzilla and Ultraman played on the restaurant’s concrete wall.  To get information on the full menus and to make reservations for Slurp Up Before the Count Down! visit Slurping Turtle‘s website here or call the restaurant at (312) 464-0466.  The restaurant will also be open New Year’s day for brunch.  Guests are encouraged to wear their pajamas (those who do will receive a gift certificate for 50% off of their next visit) and receive complimentary cinammon brioche donut holes by pastry chef Courtney Joseph.  New Year’s Day Pajama Party Brunch runs from 10:30 AM until 4:00 PM.  Dinner service on New Year’s day begins at 5 PM until 9 PM.

Big Jones –  Paul Fehribach‘s low-country restaurant will serve their regular lunch menu (including the Boarding House Lunch) from 10 AM until 3 PM on NYE, but from 5 PM until midnight, guests will be able to enjoy a special tasting menu to celebrate the New Year.  The $69 dinner (with optional beverage pairings for $30), will include an amuse of red pea Cappuccino with bacon froth, puffed Carolina gold rice, and parched collard greens (showcasing the tradition of eating peas with rice and greens on New Year’s).  Click here for the entire menu.   Big Jones will also be open for brunch on New Year’s Day from 10 AM until 3 PM.  Menu items will include fried chicken and waffles, and hoppin’ john with greens in addition to the restaurant’s popular brunch items.  The restaurant will be closed for dinner service on New Year’s day.
