Millions will have their record release party for their second album, Failure Tactics, on Friday, September 14th at Township (formerly Panchos). Failure Tactics comes three years after their debut’s release, Gather Scatter (as well as 2010′s Panic Program EP).
The Chicago/Portland noise-rock combo, consisting of guitarists Scott Flaster and Corey Lyons, bassist Mark Konwinski and drummer Patrick O’Shea, worked with producer Andrew Ragin (The Atlas Moth) on Failure Tactics, with the album getting a mastering from Kyle Spencer (Harvey Milk). Failure Tactics will be released on guitarist Flaster’s own Seventh Rule Recordings (which has put out a slew of other releases by artists such as Lord Mantis and Sweet Cobra) on September 25th.
I’ve had a chance to listen to the album a couple of times and it’s definitely riveting, bracing rock. It has that same spirit of the “noise rock” that came out of Chicago in the 80s and 90s (think Big Black, Jesus Lizard and In Utero-era Nirvana – all oddly enough featuring the thumb print of Chicago rock legend Steve Albini).
