Co-Writer/Director Josh Trank’s Chronicle is another “found footage” film (see The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield), but so far is the best yet in the genre.  Three high school students come in contact with a force that gives them super telekinetic powers.  As the young men deal with how to handle this gift they are given, the temptation to use these powers negatively begins to grow in them.

Trank, who is rumored to be up for the job of re-booting The Fantastic Four franchise, does a really good job of handling action in the confined manner that the found footage genre and the nominal budget ($12 million) allows.  Chronicle went on to be a smash worldwide, earning over $125 million total.  Talks of a sequel are already in the works.

Chronicle is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download combo pack.  The Blu-ray includes a director’s cut as well as unseen footage from the film.
