Is there anything that Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson can’t do? The musician, producer, actor, icon has now entered the food world, partnering with Michelin-starred Chicago Chef Graham Elliot (also seen on FOX’s MasterChef with Gordon Ramsay and who just opened up another restaurant in Chicago, G.E.B.) to launch his own signature food line, “?uest Loves Food.”
Thompson met Elliot at last year’s Lollapalooza where Elliot is the festival’s Culinary Director, forming a fast friendship over each other’s talents and their shared passion of music and food. The partnership will find the two joining together to bring a fully immersive experience featuring food, music and “out of the box” artistry at industry parties and special events, as well as at food and wine festivals.
“?uest Loves Food” POWERED by Graham Elliot will feature creations from both Thompson and Elliot, and will include Thompson’s origami wrapped “Love’s Drumsticks”, which were first featured in a food challenge between Thompson and renowned Momofuku Noodle Bar (East Village in New York City) Chef/Owner David Chang on Late Show with Jimmy Fallon (on which Thompson and his bandmates The Roots are the house band). Though he lost that challenge, Thompson kept his end of the bargain and participated in a dinner last month at the restaurant featuring his “Love’s Drumsticks” where all of the proceeds benefitted The Food Bank of New York City.
The “? + GE” menu was previewed recently at an event at the Penthouse at Mondrian SoHo. Guests such as Aziz Ansari, Jay Pharoah and Amber Heard were on hand to sample the duo’s offerings.
“I feel our personalities pair perfectly together, incorporating food and music seemed like a no-brainer, so we jumped at the opportunity,” said Chef Graham Elliot of the growing friendship and business partnership. In addition to the launch of their partnership, they also have plans to bring their curated venture to industry parties and events, as well as food and wine festivals.
