There are very LIMITED tickets available for this coming Sunday’s (April 29th) Cochon 555 Chicago.  Get them now before they disappear!

Cochon 555 is upon us Chicagoans!  Sunday, April 29th at Allium at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago (120 East Delaware Place, Chicago, IL 60611), there will be 5 chefs working with 5 heritage breed pigs and 5 wineries to compliment what they create.

The event is a traveling culinary competition and tasting event promoting sustainable farming of heritage breed pigs.  The five chefs will prepare a menu created from their specific heritage breed pig, nose-to-tail, for Chicago lovers of all things pork.  Allium Chef Kevin Hickey will host the event.

The competing chefs for 2012’s Cochon 555 in Chicago are Carlos Gaytan of Mexique, Danny Grant of RIA and Balsan, Stephanie Izard of Girl & the Goat (returning competitor), Mike Sheerin of Three Floyds and the forthcoming The Trenchermen (also a returning competitor), and Jason Vincent of Nightwood (look for a feature spotlight on Vincent later this week on Rock ‘n Roll Ghost).

Also at the event will be The Butcher & Larder‘s Rob Levitt, giving a live butchering demonstration.  Guests can win cookware courtesy of Le Creuset through an interactive tasting contest with Sepia Chef Andrew Zimmerman.  There will be plenty of wines to sample (SALDO, Chase Cellars, more), beers (Anchor Brew, Three Floyds) and special selections of bourbon (Buffalo Trace, Luxardo).

Attendees get to vote for the “Best Bite of the Day” before the consumer votes are combined with the technical score from the local judges.  A Prince or Princess of Porc will be anointed, earning the opportunity to go head to head against other regional winners at the Grand Cochon finale event at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, June 17th.

The night before, there will an event to celebrate the 2nd Annual Producers Festival by Pastoral, hosted by Allium at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and Cochon 555.  There are a very limited amount of tickets available for the “Artisan & Producers Dinner” and confirmed ticket buyers will get the first chance at buying them. Cochon 555 stops at Allium at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago Sunday, April 29th.  4 pm VIP opening; 5 pm general admission. $125 per person for general admission;  $200 for VIP, which includes one hour early access to sample dishes from three of the competing chef stations, welcome cocktails from The King’s Ginger, artisan cheeses from Pastoral Artisan Cheese, and Hama Hama Oysters and chance to win a year supply of meat and cheese from Cochon 555 and Murray’s Cheese.
