The film, directed by Steven Antin, also stars Kristen Bell, Julianne Hough, Stanley Tucci, Cam Gigandet, Peter Gallagher, Alan Cumming and Eric Dane.
Aguilera has had a busy year in 2010, releasing an album, Bionic, and now a big Hollywood film in Burlesque. Rock ‘n Roll Ghost had the pleasure of nabbing some of the gorgeous and talented star’s time via e-mail.
Rock ‘n Roll Ghost: What about Burlesque‘s script appealed to you initially?
Christina Aguilera: It was the whole package. The music, the cast, the vision.
What was your involvement in the project from start to finish?
Christina Aguilera: I was the first to sign on and also in almost every scene so I had a huge involvement. Also I wrote songs and made suggestions for the soundtrack.
What does it mean to you to be venturing into acting in films?
Christina Aguilera: It is so exciting. Also frightening to take such a huge risk in a new medium. But I am so proud of the film and hope to do many more.
What does it mean to you to take on a lead role in a film (particularly speaking to Burlesque)?
Christina Aguilera: It meant a lot that Steven (director Antin) and Clint (Culpepper, president of Screen Gems) trusted me, a newcomer, to star in the film.
Can you talk a little bit about your thoughts and feelings towards your co-stars (Cher, Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell, Alan Cumming, etc)?
Christina Aguilera: Wow, I can’t say enough. Oscar winners and just amazing actors. I learned so much from each and every one of them both personally and professionally.
Tell me about working with director Steven Antin – what was your working relationship with him like and what are your thoughts/feelings on him as a director?
Christina Aguilera: He was amazing. He has such a love for Burlesque and knows that world inside and out. he brought amazing energy and enthusiasm to the set.
What, if any fears/hopes did you have going into the film? Were any of them realized and if so, what were they?
Christina Aguilera: I just wanted to deliver and come prepared. Nobody wants to forget their lines when doing a scene with Cher.
What are your thoughts on your most recent album Bionic?
Christina Aguilera: I am so proud of that record. I loved working with Tricky and Sia and even had them work on the Burlesque soundtrack.
Do you see yourself making another album sooner rather than later – or do you intend to pursue more acting roles?
Christina Aguilera: I want to do both, but I wont forget music. It is my first love and I have already started writing.
