The Album Leaf’s A Chorus Of Storytellers has me smitten. When things are on, they’re full on, delivering enough dreamy soundscapes to keep me coming back for more.
Along with mixer Birgir Jón Birgisson, Jimmy LaValle (who has worked with the great Icelandic band Sigur Ros) taps into an arctic chill throughout A Chorus Of Storytellers, provoking great emotion out of rich instrumentation. Final track, “Tied Knots”, is all sighs and misty-eyes, a lament that feels like looking back and moving on.
Right now, this latest release from The Album Leaf simply feels absolutely right. It’s heart warming without pushing for sentimentality and an absolute gorgeous listen through and through.
