My Bloody Valentine, though taking their good sweet time (anyone surprised by that?), are going to play at least one live show this year. The kings of shoegaze will headline and curate the first ever All Tomorrow’s Parties show in New York the weekend of September 19-21. The band’s performance will be its first live show in 16 years. The ATP festival will be held at Kutshers Country Club in Monticello, NY.
The festival will hold less than 3,000 people, will feature at least 30 acts starting mid-afternoon and DJ sets going late into the night.
Three-day festival passes are on sale right now at ATP Festival with and without accommodation.

Also in the news, MBV’s Kevin Shields and Patti Smith are releasing a double-disc set of their live performance of The Coral Sea on July 11, 2008 on the duo’s own PASK imprint. The Coral Sea is Smith’s posthumous homage to her friend and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe and the title of her book from 1996. Shields accompanies her on guitars and effects to Smith’s spoken prose.
The double disc set was recorded June 22nd, 2005 and September 12th, 2006 at sold-out performances at the QEH in London.
