Chicago Sensation Kid Sister Signs To Downtown Records

Chicago’s Kid Sister has already played major festivals (SXSW, Coachella, Pitchfork and Lollapalooza) and has shared a stage with some music giants (Kanye West, Akon, A-Trak, Flosstradamus and Chromeo)

West was so taken with Kid Sister’s A-Trak produced “Pro Nails” that he rhymed over it on his “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” mixtape. Indie label Fool’s Gold (no relation to that obnoxious Matthew McConnaughey/Kate Hudson film) released the remix as an official single as well as the much ballyhooed video (read the Chicago Reader’s story on the video shoot here). See the video for “Pro Nails” by Kid Sister featuring Kanye West here.

Now Kid Sister will release her debut album, Koko B. Ware this summer for Atlantic subsidiary Downtown Records (along with Fool’s Gold). She’ll appear this Thursday, February 28th on Spankin’ New Ladies Week on MTV’s TRL.

“Kid Sister is one of the most exciting new voices in music today and we are thrilled to welcome her to Downtown. She is a true artist with a vision, sound and style all her own, and we look forward to tremendous success together”. -Josh Deutsch of Downtown Records Chairman/CEO of Downtown Records

“Their roster is impeccable and the attitude at the company is so relaxed and cool. I don’t wanna call them an indie and definitely won’t call them a major but still they’ve got some serious muscle. They’re just that rare, perfect fit you always dream about…like a fancy pair of jeans! ” -Kid Sister
