Britney Spears’ “Blackout” Moved Up To October 30th Release

So in other nonsensical media news, Jive Records announced today that they are moving up the release date of Britney Spears’ latest release Blackout to October 30th. No word on what inspired the album’s title, but if you’ve been following the pop singer’s tumultuous life of late, at least a little, you could work it out.

The story is that some songs from the album, in addition to unfinished material and demos, were leaked online. A label stooge said the following: “due to these numerous unauthorized on-line leaks, the label is doing everything possible to prevent and avoid any further illegal distribution of songs including moving up the release date of the album to October 30th.”

You know this thing, disaster or not, will debut at #1 with a bullet. But it’s lasting power and Brit’s ability to promote it is where the real suspense is at.
